Information on the piece
 
Synesthesia is a word to describe people who associate colors with their other senses (In this instance, this sense being sound). Most synestetic people who listen to music often describe songs having certain colors based off the notes being played; and that those notes are the same color every time. In my case, I see different shapes based off the instrument that is playing - and the hues and intensity of the colors depend on the instrument as well (For example: If an acoustic guitar is playing, I often see warmer colors in a shape that often looks like a beam of light. You can see something like this in the upper right corner of the picture).
 
So all in all, the art piece helps me express what having synesthesia feels like, and can give others the idea of what I see when I hear music. If you have synesthesia, don't worry about it not being normal! You are part of the 2-4% of people who have this, and it's a wonderful thing to have, and it makes me a little sad that more people don't experience seeing these colors.
